The curvy stars of Titanic and Doctor Who are the latest celebrities to condemn the pressure on women to pursue size-zero figures. Kate Winslet described the trend as "unbelievably disturbing" yesterday while Billie Piper says in the January edition of Glamour magazine that it is "disgusting".

Winslet, 31, said she refused to have any magazines showing skinny stars in her house because of the damaging effect it could have on her six-year-old daughter, Mia. "It's only a matter of time before she becomes aware of it and it frightens the life out of me," the former Oscar nominee said on the BBC's Sunday AM.
"Young girls are impressionable from 11 up to 19 or 20 even," she said. "They're trying to figure out who they are and they want to be loved, and what I resent is that there is an image of perfection that is getting thinner and thinner."
Winslet, whose new film The Holiday was released at the weekend, said she hoped that, wi! th her Hollywood success, she could be a role model for girls:! "I'm a normal person. I'm doing all right. I've got a lovely husband and children, and I didn't lose weight to find those things."
Piper, 24, who has suffered from anorexia, said she was worried that teenagers were looking up to "tiny" celebrities such as Victoria Beckham.
"The whole size-zero debate is disgusting," said the pop singer and former Doctor Who sidekick. "Some models you see are tiny because that's the way they were born, but then they'll get the attention and that will start feeding a fire.
"My sister, who is 13, looks amazing, but she's already worried about her figure. She loves Posh and I say, 'Come on Ellie, she's tiny. What's wrong with Shakira? She's sexy, curvy. But she has no interest."

A judge has dismissed a libel suit brought by Britney Spears accusing Us Weekly magazine of fabricating a story about a sexually explicit video the pop star and her husband made together.The suit, filed last year by Spears and her spouse, dancer Kevin Federline, sought $10 million in damages against Us Weekly over the article, which appeared in the publication's "HOTstuff" column in October 2005, about a month after Spears gave birth to her first child.
Us Weekly said it stood by its account, which ran with the headline: "Brit & Kev: Secret Sex Tape? New parents have a new worry: racy footage from 2004."According to! the article, the celebrity couple had told their lawyers that "a member of their entourage had threatened to release raunchy footage" of them and that Spears feared that "an X-rated tape starring the two may go public."
The magazine also reported that Spears and Federline gave a copy of the tape to lawyers and watched it with them.
The judge disagreed.
"It is clear that plaintiff did not bring this lawsuit because she was falsely accused of acting goofy," Hart Cole wrote. "The issue is whether it is defamatory to state that a husband and wife taped themselves engaging in consensual sex."
The judge went on to conclude that Spears has "put her modern sexuality squarely, and profitably, before the public eye" in a way that would make it unlikely for the magazine article to be found defamatory.
The judge cited Spears' 2005 television reality show "Britney & Kevin: Chaotic," which chronicled her courtship and marriage t! o Federline based largely on home videos shot by the pop star.!
The judge noted that the series included scenes of Spears filming Federline naked in a shower, Spears interviewing Federline during a night-time bus ride while she was naked, and "otherwise catching plaintiff talking uninhibitedly about her sex life."

News :Pete Doherty Bust Up!
Pete Doherty was facing a police investigation today after he was involved in a brawl with an Italian photographer outside his hotel.The Babyshambles singer's experience in Rome was anything but La Dolce Vita when he was left covered in blood.
Doherty, 27, jumped on the paparazzo and rained several punches on him before the pair were dragged apart. The fight was said to have been witnessed by several girls who had been invited back to the band's hotel following their gig at the city's Piper Club.
One said Doherty's head was "dripping with blood" and that band members had grabbed metal ashtrays to use as weapons in the brawl.
Police were not called and the singer was treated by fans and h! is band members while the photographer was said to have gone to hospital.
As Doherty flew home, it was said the photographer would file a complaint against him.
The concert itself had been marred by a spectator who threw a bottle at the Babyshambles' drummer, prompting the band to walk off stage.
